DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROFILE

The Department of Business Administration is one of the three departments in the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences and is the oldest and the largest in the Faculty of Business and Management (FOBMS) Science dates back to the 1970s when the School of Business was established. The department has 31 academic members of staff who are highly qualified and industry leaders in various thematic areas in business studies.

We purpose to provide quality Business education that embodies the aspirations of the Kenyan people and the global community by producing competent and ethical business graduates capable of effectively contributing to national and International Economic Development

The departmental-specific programmes offered are Master of Science in Human Resource Management, Master of Science in Marketing, and Master of Science in Entrepreneurship   

Under the Faculty based programme of Bachelor of Commerce the Department offers three thematic specialization areas namely Marketing, Insurance, and Human Resource Management, while in the Master of Business Administration, the Department offers Five thematic specialization areas namely areas Marketing, Insurance, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, International Business, and Strategic Management.

The department also offers Diploma programs in human Resource management, Business Administration, and Public Relations. In addition, the department also offers consultancy and research in Business administration and has several national and international collaborations. 

Through the department”s various programmes, research, and consultancy, the department can play  a crucial role in economic growth and development by offering solution to organizations and the country at large. Through the programmes offered and student mentorship, the department is able to impart up to date knowledge and skills to enable our students to make decisions that transform organization in the ever-changing global space.
